Fun fact: when I was younger I was convinced I was going to be a fashion designer. I've always had a fascination with clothes and pairing outfits together. Perhaps it was only a matter of time I started playing around with that on my blog.

Let's jump into the good stuff!

Today I road with my mom to pick up my brother from his university for Spring Break. I wanted a look that was put together, but not complicated as I'd be spending most of my time in the car. We also had lovely weather today, so I wanted my makeup to be lighter and fresh-faced.
What do you guys think about this type of post? Yay? Nay? Is there another way to lay it out/format it that would perhaps makes more sense? I do think it would be helpful if I actually showed you guys the makeup on, unless you think you have enough of an imagination to piece the products together on your own. ;) Lemme know!

Zoya polishes. Yea. It’s the best I’ve used. Removes my polish quickly, without
leaving any nail polish residue and without drying out my nails. In fact my
nails feel and look better after using this. As far as nail polish removers go,
it’s not cheap, but I may have to look into purchasing the full size when I run

that it doesn’t make me look like a grease ball and gives my skin a nice
radiance. I wouldn’t say that this primer extends my makeup wear that much, but
it does give me a nice canvas to apply my makeup and there is just something nicer about how my foundation looks when

undertone that works well under the eyes. It also gives a nice brightening
effect to the skin. I like to apply this after I apply my primer, but before I
apply my foundation. I put it where I have hyperpigmentation and buff it into
my skin to even out my skin tone. Fantastic product.

I can’t say that these are the best eyeliners in the world,
because they aren’t. But I didn’t get them to perform as the best. I wanted
something that was quick, easy, and not super intense. The black is not ultra
black, it’s just black. The charcoal is great when I want something more subtle
than black. These are great for when you don’t want something super precise and
you just want to add a bit of definition at the lash line. Plus, I really like
the packaging; it’s sleek and simple.

This product makes me crave warmer weather. It’s perfect for when I want to define
my cheeks, but I don’t want to wear color on them. It has just enough of a pink
undertone to give my cheeks some life. The texture of this is harder than other
blushes, which is great because it makes it difficult to over apply this
product and lasts a long time on my face.

product that packs a punch. This will definitely be a Spring/Summer staple for

take this palette out and just stare at it. It’s lovely. I’ve wanted to try
Orgasm Blush forever and when I stumbled across this palette on eBay I had to
get it. This palette is Orgasm deconstructed. The pans are small in this
palette, minus Orgasm, but it will take me a while to get through them because
a little goes a long way. I love that two of the blushes are matte. The gold
highlight surprised me. I didn’t think it would be that wearable, but on my tan
skin it is really flattering. And Orgasm. Yea, I get the hype. Gorgeous.
Another Spring/Summer staple for me.

that great, but it works so I’ll continue to use it. This contains a cleanser
with 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide, a toner with glycolic acid, a repairing lotion with
2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide and a 6% Sulfur Mask. I use the mask twice a week and the
cleanser, toner and lotion twice a day. I plan to do a review on this set

China Glaze Jungle Queen is one of those polishes in my collection that I don't wear enough. I've only worn it once before and that was during the early Fall of 2012. This polish is beautiful. It's a dark, purple taupe with purple micro-shimmer. I used the flash on my camera when photographing this polish so you could actually see the shimmer. Otherwise, it can be nearly invisible to the eye without the proper lighting.

It has a great formula. It's creamy, thick and opaque, but smooth and easy to apply. I applied 2 coats for this manicure.

I love fragrances. Even as a little girl I remember having
body sprays and just sitting there and sniffing them. There is just something
so comforting to me about a good scent.

This past October I was craving a new Fall and Winter
fragrance. I wanted something warm and comforting, with a little but of spice,
woods, and vanilla. I was browsing on Sephora and stumbled across Burberry Brit. I’ve seen Burberry Brit
often in stores like TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, and Ross, but never knew what it
smelled like. I’m a fan of Burberry Brit Sheer, so decided to see what notes make
up the original.

Top Notes: Lime, Icy Pear, Green Almond

Heart Notes: White Peony, Sugared Almond

Base Notes: Mahogany Wood, Amber, Vanilla Beans

Just by looking at the notes online, I knew this was exactly
what I was looking for, so I purchased it without smelling it first. Man, oh
man, did I take a great gamble.

First, I like the bottle. I like how heavy it is, I like the
classic Burberry plaid, and I like how it feels in my hands; solid, sturdy and
cool to the touch.

When you first spray this, the lime note is almost over
powering and sharp. However, as this dries down, especially with my body
chemistry, this parfum turns into something warm and complex. It’s spicy and
woodsy without smelling too masculine or too old and sweet without smelling
like cake or smelling too young. The mahogany and amber notes also give this
fragrance that element that is distinctly Burberry.

The lasting power is great on me. I spray it once on my
wrist and then rub my wrists together, on my base of my throat, on the back of
my neck and I’ll do one spray on whatever shirt I’m wearing. That may sound
like a lot, but it’s just enough. People still see me before they smell me.

Speaking of people, I get quite a few compliments when I
wear this. My grandmother said, “Whatever you’re wearing smells great on you.”
I walked past my father in the kitchen one Sunday morning and he said “What is
that!?” and one of my male co-workers walked into my office to borrow something
and said “You smell nice.” Thus, this is even more of a keeper in my book.

There is something classic and timeless about this
fragrance. It doesn’t make me feel like I’m a little kid trying to play dress
up. I did want something that was still youthful but also more “mature” and
this is a nice balance between the two. This fragrance makes me feel like a
young adult woman.

I adore this fragrance and when I use up this bottle, I grantee
that I will purchase another.

Have you smelled this parfum? Do you own it? What do you
think about it and what is your favorite fragrance for this time of year?

It's been cold. Freezing cold. Grey and dreary. So cold in fact, that the snow from Tuesday night continues to linger. Don't get me wrong, winter is one of my favorite seasons, but in the midst of such cold and grey days, I sometimes want to wear something brighter on my nails.

I hadn't stamped anything in a while and peacock motifs are amongst one of my favorites. Thus, this weeks manicure was born! I really like these nails. They're colorful without being absurdly bright.
I’ve got oily, acne-prone skin. Any skin care product that
is advertised to control oil, mattify skin, and improve the look and feel of my
skin over time? – Oh, I’m all over that.

I’m new to Korres products. Back in October I was browsing
around in TJ Maxx and saw the Korres
Pomegranate Balancing Cream-Gel Moisturiser and the Korres Pomegranate Mattifying Treatment. I picked up two of each. I
felt like I hit the jack pot! Korres is not cheap and I got four items for
under $30. It really is worth taking a look in TJ Maxx (or TK Maxx in the UK)
at their skin care. Every now and then you may stumble upon something good!

Korres Pomegranate Balancing Cream-Gel Moisturiser. This
product claims to be lightweight and leave skin soft, hydrated, and balanced
while providing a matte finish. It also claims that it is “clinically proven in
only 4 weeks to minimize the look of pores, help reduce the appearance of
redness and improve skin radiance.

I like this product and I’m glad I decided to pick up two.
It is lightweight, leaves my skin feeling soft and supple and well hydrated.
It’s refreshing and I look forward to applying it every morning. It does give
the skin a matte finish, but more like a soft, natural matte. This would be a
great moisturizer during the summer for you oily skin people out there. As an
added bonus, it smells like one of my favorite old school scents from Bath
& Body Works; White Tea Ginger.

I can’t say for sure if this product has improved my skin
tone while tightening up my pores. I have very specific products in my skin
care regimen that are targeted for pores and evening up hyperpigmentation and
I’m crediting those products for the skin improvements I’ve seen thus far. But,
I can say that since using this moisturizer my skin just seems nicer. Do you have a product like that?
It may not be delivering ground-breaking results, but it’s giving you that
little extra something? This is that moisturizer for me. I’m almost finished
with the first jar and after I go through the second, I probably won’t
repurchase simply because the world is full of products that I want to stick my
face in.

Korres Pomegranate Mattifying Treatment. This product
claims to be “long-lasting, mattifying and pore refining”.

I apply this mattifier right after I apply the
moisturizer. Now this product I really like and might actually miss after I’ve
gone through both tubes. It took me a few tries to figure out how to apply this
because it would turn into pill balls with too much massaging into the skin. To
prevent this I just apply one pump to my face and just pat it in, no rubbing!
This really does help to control oil. Will it control oil all day? No. But for
me, it controls it long enough to keep me from looking like I dunked my face
into a bucket of fried chicken for at least a few hours. When my skin does
begin to look shiny, it’s still not as bad as it would be without this product.
I also noticed that it makes my foundation look nicer. I remember the first
time I wore this underneath my make up for the day. I looked at myself in the
mirror a few hours after I applied it and was very pleased with how it made my
makeup settle into my skin. Very flattering. I can imagine that combined with a
makeup primer, those with oily skin could blot even less! This product lives up
to its claims for me. Luckily a little goes a long way, so I’ll have these
tubes for while.

Both of these are a win for me. I’m glad I got to try
something Korres, I’ve wanted to for a while and I’m itching to try some more
of their products.

Have you tried any skin care products from Korres? What are
your favorites?

I’m all about hand cream and it has become my self-ordained
mission to find the best one out there that my money can buy – or that I’m
willing to spend a reasonable sum on. The last hand cream I reviewed was the Caudalíe Hand & Nail Cream, which I really enjoyed, except that bad boy comes
with a hefty $19 price tag. I’ve actually finished that tube and once it was
gone, I missed it. I missed its smooth creamy texture, light orange scent, the
non-greasy formula, and how well it conditioned my hands. But the price! The
price resulted in my continued search for a hand cream that is so good and so
affordable. That, and I’ve received the same results with drugstore hand creams
(Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Hand Cream anyone!?).

Whilst browsing in Target a while back, I spied with my
little eyes, the Vaseline Total Moisture
Healthy Hand & Nail Conditioning Lotion. First off, the name is too
long. Dear companies, enough is enough with these ridiculously long names.

This hand lotion claims to be fast absorbing and non-greasy.
It claims to nourish for softer palms, fingertips, knuckles and cuticles and
that in 2 weeks nails are 2 times stronger. It is also enriched with an alpha
hydroxy acid, lactic acid. Lactic acid helps skin to look younger and smoother
because it acts as a very gentle peel to exfoliate over time, with continued
use.

Let me just go on and say, this is not my favorite hand
cream and I will not repurchase it. It is fast absorbing and non-greasy, it
just isn’t moisturizing enough for me, especially in the winter months. But
even during the summer I found myself applying it and then reapplying only a
few minutes later, almost as if I never put anything on my hands. So whenever I
use this (I just have a little bit left) I apply a hefty amount.

I’m also not sure if this made my nails any stronger. I
naturally have very strong, healthy nails. Plus, with taking 5000 micrograms of
biotin everyday to maintain hair length, my nails have become even stronger.

This product also contains mineral oil, petroleum and
methylparaben. I knew these were in the ingredient list before I purchased
this, but sometimes the chemical laden stuff just does it for ya! This was not
one of those instances. I was unimpressed with the formula, so these bad boys
just make me want to nix it even more.

The scent is neutral enough. It has that typical lotion
scent; clean, light and doesn’t lean too feminine. One of my male co-workers
would just walk into my office and help himself, so he obviously got something
out of it and it didn’t insult his masculinity enough to prevent him from using
his fair share.

Though this hand and nail lotion comes at a low price tag (I
spent under $3), this product was lacking for me and I will not be
repurchasing. In fact, I’ve got some new finds that are definite keepers! Keep
your eyes peeled in the future for those posts!

Can you believe this week is already half over? Time is just flying by!

I'm quite tired so I'm going to keep this post short, sweet and to the point. I spend three hours of my workday at a recreation center watching kids when they get out of school. Today I spent a significant portion of that three hours putting kids in timeout and remaining unswayed by their fits of rage and rivers of tears when they realized that "Miss Alana" would not break down and let them have their way. After speaking with one mother about her daughter's unwillingness to follow directions and why she was placed in time out, the mother stated, "That's right! Show her who's the boss!"But I digress...

I have a few manis that I photographed over the summer, so I decided to share them with you guys. These were some of my favorites.

Color Club Clambake Coral and a Color Club flakie polish on top. I actually can't remember the name of it and refuse to go upstairs to find out. My knees hurts from plays soccer with kids. ;)

I've wanted to do a half moon mani for a while. First I painted my nails with China Glaze Sci-Fi and let it dry. Sci-Fi is a super fast drying polish and is perfect for tape manis. I used a paper reinforcer to create the half moon shape and polished the exposed part of the nail with AVON Vintage Blue.

For this mani I used China Glaze Lemon Fizz and on my ring finger I used NYC 134A (plain white creme). Beforehand I painted a square on a plastic sandwich bag in Essie Knockout Pout. After it dried I peeled off my polish square and used scissors that cut in a zig-zag shape and placed two strips over the white polish.

Though quite simple, this was one of my favorite manis over the summer. I think I might replicate it soon, just with different colors. I painted my nails in Cover Girl Always Naked (cheeky Cover Girl, cheeky...) and used a dotting tool to draw the hearts with China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy (my favorite neon!).

That's all for today's post! I'm going to get a snack, make some hot tea, put a clay mask on my face, shower and get in my cozy bed.

Until the next post,
These are the products that, without them, I'd probably look a hot mess. I loved them in 2013 and the love affair will continue in 2014!

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette - We've all heard about this palette, seen countless swatches, and drooled over it's beauty, so I won't waste space talking it to death. This is a gorgeous palette with the smoothest, pigmented, buttery eyeshadows. Since I got this palette last January I've barely touched any of my other eyeshadows.

NYX Blush in Mocha - This is the only NYX blush I own. I was browsing in Target a while back and picked this up because I wanted a matte blush that was that perfect everyday shade. This is it for me. It's so flattering and natural looking. It's easy to wear and the blush I gravitated towards the most this past year. It goes with everything.

100% Unrefined Natural Shea Butter (not pictured) - I mentioned shea butter in a past monthly favorites post. This is a beauty staple for me. When I initially bought it, I used it on my face because my skin was going through a period where it was severely dry. It fixed that issue in no time and it soon because too heavy for my skin. Since, I have used it on skin irritations and to flat iron my hair. Guys! It's amazing to use to straighten the hair with. It's a natural heat protectant and gives you the silkiest, straightest hair!

Coconut Oil (not pictured) - I use this in my hair as a hair mask. After washing my hair I'll mix it with my conditioner and let it sit for about 45 minutes to an hour, then rinse. It makes my hair so soft and manageable. My hair seems a lot healthier since I've been doing this as well.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Super Natural - Man oh man! This has become my favorite lip gloss! It's not sticky, smells lightly of vanilla, has a great texture and just makes my lips look pillowy and soft. It hydrates my lips better than some lip balms I've used. This has become a staple for me - I cannot leave the house without it! When this tube is empty, I will immediately run to the store and buy another.

OPI Top Coat - I started applying this on top of my nail polish before I apply my Revlon Quick Dry Top coat. My manicures last longer, stay shinier and people are always asking me where I get my nails done and if they are gel nails. No people. I refuse to pay someone to do my nails when I'm getting the same results at home. OPI, stay great.

Watts Beauty Serums in Retinol Serum 5 and Kojic, Salicylic, Glycolic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid Face Serum - These serums from Watts Beauty (purchased from Amazon) have worked wonders on my skin. From purging clogged pores, reducing breakouts and evening out my skin tone, I don't know where my skin would be without this stuff. Fantastic!

Victoria's Secret Love Spell Body Mist - Oh. My. Goodness. I've always loved this fragrance, I just never owned it until this summer. Man. Whew. So good. It's described as "cherry blossom and peach." It's light, feminine, clean yet intoxicating; the perfect balance between fruity and floral. I can't get enough. I want to bathe in it. It's now become a fragrance staple for me.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey - The perfect "my lips but better" shade. Super wearable and goes with almost any makeup look. It's perfect for everyday and my other balm stains have taken a back seat to this one. It's just so flattering.

Witch Hazel (not pictured) - this past year I realized how positively my skin responds to witch hazel. It's very soothing and calming to my skin. Whether it's in skin products or I use it straight from the bottle, my skin just drinks it up. My ear piercings are quite sensitive. Ever since I started applying witch hazel to my ear lobes twice a day, my piercings won't get irritated. A new staple for me.

Alba Botanica Even Advanced Night Cream - I appreciate this night cream. It's thick, emollient, and hydrating, but doesn't break out my acne-prone skin. It claims to reduce the look of hyper-pigmentation in just two weeks, and it does. However, it still takes time to see anything drastic. Diligence and patience are the key themes here! My skin would look clearer and calmer every morning and when I would wash my face sometimes I could actually see the dead skin cells coming off my face where I have the most hyper-pigmentation. Weird, but effective!

Those are all my beauty favorites for 2013! I discovered a slew of great products this past year and I'm excited to discover more this year and I don't want to jump the gun, but it's only January 3rd and I think I've found some winners already.

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and a great start to the New Year! It's 2014 guys, can you believe it?! The past year FLEW by! 2013 was a great year for me and I'm excited to see what this year has in store!

It's been absolutely ages since I've had any posts - since July! I decided to take a hiatus. I just did not feel up to blogging and I was putting too much pressure on myself to do so. After graduating from college, I took a step back from a lot of social networking as well, a detox if you will. It was quite refreshing actually.

Long story short, by December I was itching to get back into blogging and decided to jump start it again in January and what better day than New Year's Day?!

I've also decided to revamp the content of my posts a bit to cover more than just nail polish, manicures and monthly favorites. I've decided to also include makeup and skin care reviews, as well as tidbits of information and tips for skin and hair care. I'm actually really into skin care, so it's always a topic I enjoy talking about. Within the past year I've also really gotten into cosmetics and can't wait to share my thoughts on some products I've picked up!

Before, I was posting on this blog about once a week, when I was posting regularly. I've decided to up that to approximately three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. That's going to take some dedication, but hey, I have a lot of ground I want to cover!

So cheers to a new year and for getting back into blogging! I'm really exciting to start posting again and talking with you guys!

It's been quite some time since I last updated my blog. I decided to take a bit of a break from social media/networking for a while. Sometimes it just consumes our lives and we need to step back and direct that time and attention to other areas of our lives. Also, for the past three weeks or so I just wasn't feeling well. I've had some problems with horrible pain in my left knee. It was swollen, warm to the touch and I was constantly in pain. When I came home from work, I literally had no energy and my leg hurt so badly, I would just come home and rest. But after seeing a doctor, I'm feeling exceptionally better and I feel up to blogging again!

Now on to the nails! I've been looking for a nice lilac polish for a while. I wanted one that had a faded look to it, but not too grey and not too "in your face" purple. I found the perfect polish when I stumbled across Sally Hansen I Lilac You in Target. It's a beautiful shade of lilac, that is quite deceptive. At time's it looks grey, other times it leans blue, and sometimes it's blatantly lilac. I love that type of interest and ambiguity in a polish, especially in a purple because I just don't gravitate towards purple polishes.

The formula on this polish was okay. It is thick but I had trouble with it flooding my cuticles, even though I carefully applied my polish. I had quite a bit of clean up to do. Next time I wear this polish I'll definitely thin it out a bit. Regardless of the formula issues, it's a great shade that is worth the extra effort!

I haven't worn China Glaze Ahoy! on my nails in over a year. I don't know what's wrong with me because it's a beautiful polish!

Ahoy! is a raspberry jelly packed with gold glass flecks. It's Strawberry Swing's darker, more mature sibling. I say more mature because it behaves a lot better than Strawberry Swing. Where Strawberry Swing takes about 3 streaky coats to become fully opaque, Ahoy! becomes opaque in two, flawlessly smooth, perfectly pigmented coats. The formula is easy to control, not too thin or too thick, and seeing as how it's a jelly, it's quite pigmented.

I usually don't gravitate towards berry shades, but this is an exception. It just glows and it's extremely shiny, even without a top coat, though I always apply a top coat. This is a polish you truly have to see in person on the nail to fully appreciate. And make sure to weird people out in public when you randomly stop what you're doing to drool over your nails when the sun light hits Ahoy!

Today's post is just going to be a brief one. I rummaged through me collection and selected the polishes that screamed summer! I did exclude some, but these were the ones that caught my attention. So in case you're looking for some summer brights and neons to round out your summer manicures and pedicures, these are my picks!

Going from left to right:

Zoya Kimmy - A fiery, bright red with orange undertones and gold glass flecks

Wet n Wild Heatwave - A bright coral with orange undertones

China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy - A retina searing neon coral. One of my favorite polishes.

Essie Knockout Pout - A neon Barbie pink. A more wearable neon.

Essie Haute As Hello - A neon melon. Again, a more wearable neon.

butter LONDON Jaffa - A bright orange with coral undertones.

China Glaze Happy Go Lucky - A creamy golden yellow (my camera had a hard time capturing that one).

Orly Glowstick - A retina searing highlighter neon yellow with green undertones. Awesome shade!

Essie Pretty Edgy - A grassy green with more blue undertones. Reminds me of turf.

China Glaze Four Leaf Clover - A really cool bright green that is in the same family as kelly green, but not quite. The formula on this one is outstanding.

Essie Turquoise and Caicos - A faded turquoise that is more green than China Glaze For Audrey. Such a serene, calming color.

Sally Hansen Pacific Blue - One of my favorite blues with a great formula. A bright cobalt.

OPI Houston We Have A Purple - This isn't a super bright shade but it's a pretty red toned berry shade that is reminiscent of grape popsicles.

Fishtail braids in the nail art world have become rather prominent within the past few months and ever since I first saw it on Nailderella, I had to try it out for myself, especially since it's a design that's really easy to achieve.

I used the same technique as Nailderella to create the braid. The day before I wanted to paint my nails, I took the three polishes I wanted to use, Cover Girl Always Naked (great name for a nude polish...), China Glaze Peachy Keen, and China Glaze For Audrey, and painted squares of each color on a plastic sandwich bag, giving the polish enough time to fully dry. Then, the next day when I was ready to paint my nails, I used a toothpick to gently peel my self-made polish strips off the plastic and cut the squares into equally sized strips.

Next, I painted each nail with 2 coats in Always Naked. The formula on this polish wasn't bad but it wasn't my favorite. It was a little runny, so I really had to so some significant cleanup. I tried to apply it as carefully as possible, but it still managed to flood my cuticles. I'm willing to put up with it though, because I really like this shade of nude against my skin. It doesn't make my skin look sallow, as I have a lot of yellow undertones to my complexion.

I then used my nail polish strips to create a fishtail braid by alternating the colors diagonally on my ring fingers. The tackiness of the base color underneath allowed for the strips to adhere to the nails. Lastly I carefully took scissors and snipped off any part of the strips that were hanging off the nail and then took my angled brush dipped in pure acetone to clean up the rest of the polish that went off the nail. I applied a top coat to smooth out the lines.
I'm really pleased with how this manicure turned out! It's such a simple design, easy to achieve and looks more difficult than it really is; my favorite type of nail art! I can't wait to do this again in more color combinations.

That's all for now and thanks for stopping by and reading!
The year is half over! Eeeek!

April was an extremely hectic month for me, as was May, so I decided to combine my favorites from these past two months together, especially since I was able to really grasp whether or not I liked some of these products before I wanted to classify them as monthly favorites.

Lets hop right in!

Nail Favorites:

This is the manicure that I wore during the week of my 22nd birthday in the month of April. Even though I had major shrinkage on my ring finger, I still really like how this design turned out! It was much brighter in person and made me happy every time I looked down at my nails.

This was my favorite manicure for the month of May. This is China Glaze Four Leaf Clover with Confetti Party Palace Blue, which gave this mani a very subtle touch of glitter. This was so fun, vibrant, and perfect for Spring.

Another one of my nail favorites was actually a technique. Ever since I began avidly painting my nails, I always wrapped my tips with every manicure. Back in April, I decided to do a little experiment and test wrapping my tips versus not wrapping them. I actually realized that for me, my manicures lasted a little longer when I didn't wrap them. I no longer have chunks of polish that chip off at the tips, which would happen when I wrapped them. I am officially converted to not wrapping my tips!

Between the end of April and May, I've done a bit of drugstore makeup shopping as a reward for myself graduating from college (haul post anyone?). I didn't get crazy with the purchases, but I did buy a few items that I really wanted to try out. Two items that I've really been enjoying these past couple of months has been the NYX Butter Gloss in Apple Strudel and the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded. Apple strudel is the first product from NYX I've every tried, mainly because I've only seen NYX sold at Ulta and I don't go there often. I've heard great things about their lip glosses so I purchased two. Apple Strudel is by far my favorite. It's a nice creamy texture that isn't sticky and the formula just melts right into the lips and the color is so flattering. Definitely going to be a staple for me this summer. Secondly, I'd been searching for Barely Branded for ages, but it was always sold out. I actually got this back in March, but hadn't gotten around to wearing it until recently. I love using this under Urban Decay's Half Baked to really make that gold shadow pop! on the lid.

Equate Oil Free Acne Wash - This is the Walmart version of the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash. They are literally the same thing, and before I started experimenting with different cleansers back in October, this was my holy grail cleanser. I've used this cleanser for so long I can't even remember when I started using it. I want to say the 8th grade! I decided to go back to this cleanser because I concluded that my skin just loves it. As much as I like natural cleansers, nothing works for my skin like this product. I wish I had never stopped using it. I think my skin really began suffering once I stopped. The texture of my skin has improved significantly and I've only been using it for two weeks.

Alba Even Advanced Night Cream - I really like this stuff! I bought this back in April on a whim, hoping it would even out my skin tone (it says you should begin to see results in 2 weeks), and I have seen an improvement. It's still a slow process, but I have seen improvements. This night cream is very emollient but doesn't cause me to break out. I also really like the smell, it's clean and marine like.

Cotton Squares - I always used cotton balls to apply my toner, but I recently switched to squares (and rounds) and I really like them better. They don't absorb as much product as cotton balls, meaning that I can use less product.

Blistex Medicated Lip Ointment and Nivea Lip Butter in Vanilla & Macadamia- I use this every night before bed. I Apply the Blistex, let that sink into the lips for a few minutes and then apply the Nivea Lip Butter on top. In the morning, my lips are so smooth and hydrated and I actually don't have to exfoliate my lips as much with this combo.

PINK All Over Body Mist in Sweet & Flirty - This is my staple spring and summer scent. This is the old packaging and I used this a ton last summer. It is a very sweet scent, but somehow it's clean at the same time. It's described as, "sugar berry and pink grapefruit." So if you like sweet, girly, citrus scents, definitely pop into Victoria's Secret and give it a whiff.

During the month of April and May I religiously watched the show A Different World. I grew up watching this show and decided to re-watch it. It's a spin off of The Cosby Show, when Denise Huxtable went away to college. I'm addicted to this show. It is sooooo funny.

I was in CVS a few weeks ago and I was looking at the Wet n WIld display and looking at the colors available in the Megalast line. Heat Wave caught my eye, as it is a vibrant coral and we all know, I like me some coral.

The formula on this polish is great! It's smooth, creamy and easy to control, partially due to the rounded brush that makes clean-up a snap! This wasn't the most pigmented coral polish I've ever used, it took 3 coats to make it completely opaque and to eliminate any unevenness in the color, but by no means is it sheer. I was also Facetiming my best friend while painting this on my nails, which could be a contributing factor to my needing 3 coats. Regardless, I really like this polish, at $1.99 it rivals the quality of more expensive brands and may indeed be my new favorite coral polish.

These three are very similar in color. Heat Wave has the most red-orange undertone out of all of them and Flirt and Guy Meets Gal-Veston have more pink undertones. Also, whereas Flirt and Heat Wave have opaque creme finishes, the OPI has a <strike>sorbet</strike> jelly finish that is difficult to get completely opaque unless layered over underwear. The OPI on the nail gives the impression of melted strawberry candy, which I quite enjoy. All of these polishes are quite bright and are perfect for the summer season, but Heat Wave is slightly brighter due to its more red-orange undertones. I really like all of these corals, but for different reasons, for example I really enjoy the texture and finish of Guy Meets Gal-veston. These are all subtly different enough for me to justify owning all three, but they are close enough that I don't need all three.

That's all for now and thanks for stopping by and reading!

I do not have a Memorial Day nail themed post, but I am going to be reviewing a product I've been wanting to talk about for sometime now; the Caudalíe Hand and Nail Cream.

I'm on the quest to find my Holy Grail hand cream. I want my hand cream to be extremely moisturizing, nourishing, and emollient. I don't mind if it is on the greasy side, as I am looking for a hand cream for at home/night time use. When I use a hand cream before bed and wake up the next day, my hands should be unspeakably soft, supple, and visibly improved.

I had heard a lot about Caudalíe products, but only recently discovered they have a hand cream that comes with a pretty hefty price tag. For a 2.5 ounce (75mL) tube, you're going to dish out about $19. I did see a 1 ounce (30mL) tube at J.Crew for $10, which is still not cheap. Luckily, I technically got my tube for free. I used to be subscribed to Birchbox and had about $20 worth of points to use in the Birchbox store on a product and decided to use it to try the Caudalíe Hand and Nail Cream.

The back of the tube describes this product as a "formula highly concentrated in patented anti-oxidant grape seed polyphenols, Vinolevure (whatever that is...), fair trade shea butter, grape seed oil, avocado, plant glycerine, sweet orange. Leaves no greasy film."

Lets start with the pros:

It is extremely moisturizing without being greasy. I can apply this and can almost immediately touch my phone or laptop without getting finger prints everywhere.

It's got a great texture. It's smooth, creamy, easy to work with, and quickly absorbs into the skin.

It smells pleasantly of oranges. It's a light scent that is not over-powering, nor will it compete with any other fragrances you may be wearing.

When I apply this at night, my hands and cuticles look immaculate in the morning, especially when used in conjunction with the Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream.

A little goes a long way! I've had my tube since January and I am barely at the half-way point, albeit I do only use this about 1-2 times a day.

It contains no parabens, if that is something that concerns you.

When used during the day, I find this keeps my hands hydrated even after I wash my hands.

The Cons:

The price at $19 a tube. Yikes! This is a splurge item for sure!

I have actually used other hand creams, though they do leave a greasier film on the hands, that achieve the same results.

Overall, I do really enjoy this product, but I can't get past the price tag. This is not cheap and I have used hand creams purchased at the drug store that achieve the same results. Especially since I don't mind a hand cream that is going to leave a greasy film, I can't justify this being a regular purchase. It is very nice and if you want to splurge from time to time on a quality hand cream, Caudalíe has definitely produced a great one! I'm going to enjoy this hand cream while I have it and then the search for my holy grail hand cream continues (one with a cheaper price)! There are several that I want to try!

That's all for now and thanks for stopping by and reading!

The past week has been hectic! Between packing up all my stuff from my apartment at school, until my actually graduation ceremony, which was on Sunday, moving back home on the same day as graduation, and spending the last 3 days unpacking and doing some belated spring cleaning in my room back at home, my days have actually been quite tiring. Not to mention the plethora of laundry that I have to get done. I've done four loads already and I still have 3-4 more to go. Whew!

Regardless, I managed to find time the night before my college graduation ceremony to do a mani for the occasion. I'm going to go on with my disclaimer: these aren't my favorite nails. I did my school mascot on my ring and thumb fingers and even though the mascot is not that complicated, it wasn't easy to do. The mascot is the Cavalier; a V with two sabers crossed underneath the V. I'm not completely satisfied with it, but I think it came out pretty okay. Freehanding ain't easy! Thus, I'm showing you all my left hand instead of my right because, even though my left is my dominate hand, I think the design actually came out better when I painted it with my right hand. Also, since I did this at night, I couldn't use natural like to take the photo and the lighting in my apartment at school wasn't the greatest, so please excuse that!

As you can tell my school's colors are orange and blue! I used two coats of China Glaze First Mate for my blue. I still can't get over how excellent the formula is for that polish; so creamy, dense, smooth and pigmented! I think it's worth owning just for the formula alone. China Glaze nailed that one! For my accent nails I used two coats of China Glaze Life Preserver. I drew the V in white first with NYC 134A and outlined it in First Mate and freehanded the sabers with First Mate.

That's all for now and thanks for stopping by and reading! Now that I'm out of school I plan to post on my blog about 3 times a week! I have a ton planned!

Today my blog is two years old! It's crazy how fast the time flies! I started this blog at the end of my second year of college and on this Sunday I graduate from college. I have truly enjoyed being a part of the nail blogging community and I look forward to many more years to come!

The manicure that I want to show you all today is another one of the four essence polishes that I purchased back in February, which is my favorite shade of the lot. This shade is called Modern Romance and it is a pretty, pastel peach shade that I think would be flattering on a wide range of skin tones. It's soft and feminine, make the hands look more tan, and has pink micro-shimmer running through it. However, once on the nail, the shimmer practically disappears, but still gives this polish an element of dimension instead of just being a flat creme polish.

I used three coats for this manicure. Out of the four essence polishes that I have, this one had the thinnest formula and needed three coats for full opacity and to even out the color. However, it was still an easy formula to work with, just thin. I wore this polish when my nails were filed quite short because every now and again I get it in the mood for really short nails. However, because this polish required three coats, excluding the base and top coat, it looked a bit thick on such a short nail. The next time I wear this polish, I'll apply it to longer nails. I feel that it will be more flattering that way. Regardless, this is a very pretty color and I really like it! My camera washed this shade out a bit, unfortunately.

A Quick Note:

Before I wrap this post up, I'd like to briefly talk about where I'm planning on taking my blog henceforth. Other than nail polish, I really enjoy cosmetics, skin care, DIY beauty/skin care, lifestyle posts, etc, and I'm planning on introducing those types of posts to my blog. I really want to share that hobby with you guys! Within the past 8 months or so I've really been getting into skin care and proper skin care regimens and I've really learned a lot and I'd love to share that with you all. Also, since I'm done with school I've got an entire cookbook sitting at home in my parents house that is begging for me to experiment with it and I'm even considering every now and then sharing some recipes with you all as well! Let me know what you guys think! I'm really excited on sharing more with you guys!

That's all for now and thanks for stopping by and reading! Cheers for my blog being two years old and a MASSIVE THANK YOU to all my lovely followers. Blogging wouldn't be nearly as fun without you all! <3

I am completely done with my undergraduate career! Almost 60 pages of writing and a Music Theory exam later, I have emerged from the plethora of assignments and this semester has been my best academic semester! I can't wait to really devote more time to my blog!

Now on to one of the manicures I was not able to get around to posting while I was in the midst of exams.

I wore China Glaze Four Leaf Clover on my nails for the first time in almost two years, which is a shame because this is such a cool color! It's a vibrant green, that is almost a kelly green, but not quite. It's one of those shades that my camera had a really hard time capturing, and unfortunately, my photos are not true to the color. My photos make the polish appear more blue that it should. This is just one of those shades you have to see in person and if you are a green polish lover and don't already own this, you need to have this polish in your life!

The formula is really nice. It's creamy, smooth, dense, easy to control, and extremely opaque. If you are really careful while applying this polish, you could possibly get away with one coat, but I always apply at least two because two coats always give every polish more depth. I then layered one coat of Confetti Party Palace Blue over top.

I loved this mani. It was fun and vibrant and perfect for the sunny spring weather!

I just wanted to give you guys a quick update. I haven't been posting on my blog as often as I would like, which is really a bummer because I have a lot of posts planned. However, I am right in the middle of finals. My classes actually ended today (my last day of class as an undergrad!), but I've been working on finals for sometime now because all except one of my finals are take home essays. I actually turned in a final today, but I still have about 45-50 pages of writing that still needs to get done between now and May 9th.

That being said, I decided that between now and May 10th, which is the date of my last final, I will not be posting anything because I really need to invest as much time as possible towards my final exercises. I will still be painting my nails and taking photos of them so I can post them after finals end. I just don't want to add any more on my plate than necessary.

That's all for now! To any students out there in the midst of finals, you can do it! I will emerge from underneath the plethora of essays (and a thesis!) in about a week and a half. Time to go out with a bang and graduate!

Today is my 22nd birthday! Yay! Though I spent my day in class and doing homework assignments it's still been a great day and I've been sporting a super happy mani for the week of my birthday!
My accent nails had some major shrinkage going on because the design required quite a few layers of polish, not to mention that white usually takes about 3 coats to get smooth and opaque. I don't even mind the shrinkage of the ring finger that much because I really like how the design came out. I used nail art brushes and dotting tools to create this look.

I initially planned to have this posted a couple of days ago, but school work, as usual, took priority. Earlier today I had the full rough draft of my History Major thesis paper due, so that was where the majority of my time went. But alas! it has been turned in and I have a little less than a month to edit it before the final draft is due. The hardest part is out of the way.

So now, while I'm sitting here with a green clay mask sucking the death (yea the death, as in dirt, oil and other pore clogging beasts) from my face, I have time to post the manicure that I wore this week.

I wore another one of my Essence polishes, this time it was Oh My Glitter! This is a blue base, light purple with pink and blue flecks in it. I really like this polish, I don't have anything in my collection like it. Not that that is saying much, since I don't own many purple polishes to begin with, but regardless, I also have never seen another polish like this. (If there is one out there in the world, let me know!).

The formula is great! It's creamy, smooth, and easy to control. I applied two coats for opacity. I had very little clean up to do with this one. Also, I decided not to wrap my tips with this polish to see if wrapping my tips actually makes a difference or not. I painted my nails with this last Saturday night. On Monday it was still going strong with not a single chip, but I still added a coat of my OPI Top Coat for extra durability. I didn't get my first chip in the polish until the middle of today, meaning almost six days without a single chip. Yea, it's that good.
Isn't this such a nice, spring shade? Also, do you guys noticed a difference when you wrap you tips? Or do you just not wrap them at all?

It's so beautiful outside today! It's about 60 degrees, there is not a cloud in the sky, the butterflies are out, flowers are blooming, and the birds are chirping. I had to leave my apartment and do this blog post somewhere else because of the weather. So as I write this, I'm sitting in Starbucks sippin' an iced coffee! I love spring! :)

Okay, is it ironic that I went on and on about how beautiful it is outside, yet I only go outside to blog inside? The flowers drawn on the blackboard next to me count, right?

Now on to my March Favorites! Let's see what I've been really loving this past month!

I've been lemming the Revlon Just Kissable Balm Stain in Honey for a while now because I've been wanting a lip color that was the perfect, "my lips but better" shade. I think this may be it! My lips actually have more coral undertones naturally, but I wanted something to neutralize this a bit. Plus after the balm part of this stain wears off, it leaves a slightly brighter stain, so it still really compliments my skin tone and natural lip color. This is going to be a staple product for sure, this spring and summer!

My second, and last makeup favorite for March has been this Model CO lip gloss in Showgirl Red. It's swatched beneath Revlon Honey. I got this in a Birchbox a while ago, initially really liked it, but kind of just forgot about it. I rediscovered this product this month. It's not really a red, more like a magenta. It's sheer but does just a slight tint of color to the lips to make them look full and healthy. It's really glossy, but not too sticky and lasts on the lips for a while. It has microshimmer in it, but they don't translate on to the lips. I love layering this over Honey when the balm wears off and the stain is left on my lips. Such a great pair! And this lipgloss smells like candied strawberries! The only downside is that this lipgloss retails for $16. To be honest, I really like this product, but if I had to pay retail for it, I wouldn't have picked it up. Also, once it runs out, I don't think I'll miss it that much because there are comparable, if not better lipglosses at the drugstore for at least half the price!
Surprise, surprise, I switched my soap up... again! For the month of March I decided to try another Nubian Heritage Soap so I chose the Lemongrass and Tea Tree Oil soap. This soap gets my skin very clean and smells like citrus, which I really like and makes my face feel even more clean. I chose this soap because tea tree oil is supposed to be good for acne-prone skin. When I use this soap, I think I even feel a slight tingling sensation, but I can't tell if that's in my head or not. Regardless, I've really been enjoying this and I have seen an improvement in my skin as far as breakouts.
Guys! I've figured out what has been causing my breakouts! Since October I started using a new toner, the Neutrogena 2-in-1 Rapid Clear Toner. Oh the irony! That toner was just way to strong for my skin! When I thought back and realized that my breakouts started occurring when I started using that toner, it made sense! Then I looked up reviews for that product and read the minority of the reviews that said that product actually worsened their skin, I had the same symptoms they did. I switched back the the Neutrogena Clear Pore Oil Eliminating Astringent that I've used since at least the 8th grade. This might be holy-grail for me. I've been using this since March 16th and I've seen a dramatic difference in my skin! My breakouts have significantly decreased, I've had no cystic acne, even during that time of the month, and my skin just looks more even and balanced. Why did I ever stop using this!? LOVE! Even the color of this product looks refreshing!

I also added Tea Tree Oil to my skin care routine. Since I like my Tea Tree Oil soap so much, I decided to get a bottle of it. This combined with my Clear Pore Astringent, and shea utter have really done wonders for my skin! I completely stopped using benzoyl peroxide and now I only use this as a spot treatment. After I spot treat with this and let it dry for about 5-10 minutes, I take a dropper and apply one drop (yes just one drop, this stuff is potent!) into my shea butter that I use as my night moisturizer. For me, tea tree oil is just as effective, if not more so, than benzoyl peroxide, without the irritating side effects. I also like the earthy, medicinal smell, though many people don't. One of my roommates came into my room after I used this and said, "Oh! Your room smells so clean and fresh!" I think I finally found a combination of products that work for my skin, and I can't wait to see the long term benefits from it!
I've had the Burt's Bees Radiance Eye Cream with Royal Jelly since about September, I never really used it religiously until March. I originally got it because, there was a period from June to October that I was breaking out in hives about twice monthly around my eyes and I couldn't figure out why. Turns out I'm allergic to eyelid primers. What a bummer! I'm on the search for one that doesn't irritate my skin. Anyway, the irritations around my eyes that I had been experiencing really dried the skin out around my eyes and I wanted something that was gentle, but would effectively moisturize and revitalize my eye area. Since I've started using this regularly, the skin around my eyes looks even better than it did before the irritations happened. The skin is so unnaturally soft and supple looking, like baby soft skin! I'm not sure how effective this would be for more mature skin, but as an almost 22 year old, this is a great eye cream!
My last skin care favorite of the month (I know, I had quite a few, as usual...), has been this shower gel from Bath & Body Works in the scent Dancing Waters. I've owned this scent before and used it back in my high school days. My best friend smelled this recently and said, "I remember you smelling like this!" I've gotten in the habit of switching up my lotions, shower gels, and body sprays/perfumes with the seasons. This scent definitely reminds me of Spring time and spring showers and the smell of flowers. It's such a clean, fresh scent! It's also one of those scents, that if my brother were to visit me and he forgot his shower gel, he could use this because it's not extremely girly. It's just clean. It really reminds me of cool rain.
I also tried a new herbal tea from Twinings, which is my favorite tea company. I picked up the flavor Honeybush, Mandarin & Orange in Whole Foods because I knew the weather was going to be warming up and I wanted a fruity herbal tea. This is really, really good! I'm also thinking this is going to taste really good as an iced tea, mixed with a black tea in the summer!

I finally finished reading Jane Eyre in March and I really loved it! It's one of those books I look forward to reading again! It also has some really great quotes in it! Here is one of my favorites: "Life appears to me too short to be spent in nursing animosity and registering wrongs." If you are interested in classics or stories that have great character development or you're into character analysis, this is a great read!

Lastly, I've been really enjoying the artist Tyrone Wells. His soulful voice, acoustic, simplistic style really lifts the mood. If you're into relaxing, positive music, check him out! Here's my favorite song by him to get you started. It's perfect for this lovely Spring weather! The song is called "And The Birds Sing."

My work load tends to lighten up on Wednesdays so I've finally found the time to post.

As a Christian, Easter is very important to me, so I really wanted a manicure, that when I looked down at my nails, it really represented what Easter means to me.

I started with a Skin Food mint green polish. I'm not sure if it has a color name because the majority of the bottle is written in Korean. I used two coats. Like most mint greens and pastels, this polish is streaky. The formula of this was a little thick and I had to use two thick coats to achieve even looking opacity, but the formula isn't horrible. I just wish the brush was more flexible and soft to make it easier to apply. Then, on my ring fingers I used China Glaze Passion to freehand a simple cross. That's it! Minimalist and meaningful! :)
